Sparkling seas, miles of coastline and rolling hills make South Devon a beautiful part of the country to visit. Luckily for me we have family in the lovely town of Dartmouth, and as a result are able to spend a reasonable amount of time in the area. We generally get down for a week or so over the New Year period, with shorter trips at other times of the year, and as a general rule we find plenty to see and do, from Dartmouth’s giant fancy dress party on New Year’s eve to the annual “Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta” which is held every August. Pictures from the regatta can be seen in it’s own section on this website <here>. There are some nice walks – out at Start bay for example as pictured below, and along the front at the Torbay resorts such as Paignton, reached via ferry and steam Railway from Dartmouth. For wetter days Dartmouth’s collection of pubs serving good food and beer is second to none!
