Once a year at the end of August the town of Dartmouth is invaded by the fun and games which make up the Port Of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, a three day extravaganza which has been held for over 160 years. Numerous different events make up the Regatta, including the obvious rowing, air displays (the Red Arrows have been heard to say that Dartmouth is one of their favourite places to perform) sporting competitions, firework displays, a fair, and fun events. The children aren’t left out with special sections in the local rowing and Trolley Grand prix as well as their own competitions such as pavement artists, crab fishing and “spot the oddity”. 2005 was the first time I’ve taken many photos at all at Regatta, because of the “immediate” nature of so much that is happening with film you get a lot of wasted shots but the digital camera enabled me to capture whatever was going on and then worry about sorting them out afterwards. |
